In this project, MSD was engaged to perform seismic evaluation and rehabilitation and also planning and designing concrete repair for the 9-storey concrete structure in Tehran. After seismic evaluation of existing building, structural deficiencies were identified due to faulty design, construction defects and Low strength concrete.
Systematic seismic rehabilitation was conducted to achieve the selected rehabilitation objective (Basic safety objectives) for the building under investigation. Adding new shear wall in longitudinal direction and strengthening of the weakened beams and columns in transverse direction of structural frames by FRP systems were used as the main seismic rehabilitation technique in the design process.
Seismic rehabilitation in this project was conducted according to ASCE 41-06 and nonlinear static analysis (pushover) was used in the rehabilitation design. Also drawing and specification for concrete repair of the damaged concrete elements was provided in this project.
