In this project, MSD, as corporate partner of ISF co., was engaged to perform seismic evaluation and rehabilitation of the 10 schools buildings in Mashhad. This project includes the wide range of steel and concrete buildings which were seismically deficient. Obtaining as built conditions shows that each one of the buildings under investigation contained specific characteristics and poor detailing and to achieve the selected rehabilitation objective (Basic safety objectives), for each building, the specific consideration and assigning appropriate seismic rehabilitation techniques was required. Thus the wide range of techniques such as: add shear wall; add steel bracing; steel or concrete jacket were used for systematic rehabilitation of these buildings.
Systematic seismic rehabilitation of the building under investigation in this project were conducted according to ASCE 41-06 and FEMA 356 and related to type of buildings, linear or nonlinear analysis were used in the rehabilitation design.
