In this project, MSD, as corporate partner of Saze Energy co., was engaged to perform seismic evaluation and rehabilitation of the 30 schools buildings in Tehran. This project includes the wide range of masonry, steel and concrete buildings which were seismically deficient. Obtaining as built conditions shows that each one of the buildings under investigation contained specific characteristics and poor detailing and to achieve the selected rehabilitation objective (Basic safety objectives), for each building, the specific consideration and assigning appropriate seismic rehabilitation techniques was required. Thus the wide range of techniques such as: add shear wall; add steel bracing; steel or concrete jacket; shotcrete and FRP strengthening systems were used in systematic rehabilitation.
Systematic seismic rehabilitation of the buildings under investigation in this project were conducted according to ASCE 41-06 and FEMA 356 and related to type of buildings, linear or nonlinear analysis were used in the rehabilitation design.
