Retrofitting of Ladan Residential Tower

Some points of weakness in Ladan Tower’s structural foundation according to the usual conditions of design of structures (foundation modeled as a fixed base in Safe software) was the main reason of referring to this company to carry out the retrofitting studies. Hence, scrutinizing on the design process including integrated modeling of the structure and foundation and taking into account the effects of foundation level deformation (modeled as a flexible-base foundation) of the structure were considered. The results of seismic retrofitting studies indicated the adequacy of the existing foundation but the presence of weaknesses in some columns of Ladan Tower’s structure. Hence, implementing of CFRP Jacketing in order to develop confinement and consequently increase the compression and axial-bending strength of the columns were proposed, and after the confirmation of the project’s consultant, it was executed by MSD Co.
